Well, u might of had bright or dark nail polish on with out having a base coat and a top coat and leaving in on after two weeks can cause that.. or maybe lack of nutrients.

Meduim to long fingers nails and bright colors?
how do you ladies feel about natural medium to long finger nails and bright nail polish? is it tacky? pink red black ? or is French the best way to go ?Meduim to long fingers nails and bright colors?
I have pretty long natural fingernails and I love bright colors. OPI has a great selection of fun colors. At the moment I am wearing a sparkly orange. My students would get excited on Monday to see what color my nails were for the week. I think that if you enjoy bright colors, you should wear them. Just get used to comments. :) People often stop me while shopping and ask me if they're my real nails and say they like the color. French manicures are fine, and if your job requires something more subtle, they're a great choice. Even with a French you can put very light glitter over the top to add a little detail.

They are a medium to long length and i use bright colors ( i also wear them) this week i have neon orange, last week was bright teal, iv had bright red, blue, green, pink, and iv added black or white polka dots, and everyday i go into work i have some woman and actually a lot of men pointing out how cool, pretty, or awesome my nails are. French nails a boring and common they never get complimented plus i hate French manicures. Every time i have a bright color my nails are in the spot light.
Most men LOVE red or French tips...any time my nails are done with French tips, my hubby goes bonkers for the sexiness of it all.
Jewels are really sexy lookng also!
The most important thing, besides your nails, is that you are clean and sweet smelling...that's sexier than fingernail polish

I damaged the top of my finger nail with a cuticle nipper and the layer are like splitting and is there anyway?
to fix it I really scared.Also I used sally hansen hard as nail thing and it kind of work.But is there any other way to fix it.

Finger nails/French manicures?
Well my nails keep braking but I want a french manicure done on them before I go on holiday...in the middle of May. If I cut my nails now, and let them grow back, would they have enough time to grow back before my holidays so I can get them done...I only said that because I find if I cut my nails when they all start braking...then put strengthener on them...they grow back quite well. They layer a plant based gel over your own nails that lasts for 3 weeks. In that time, my nails all grew to a really good length and are amazingly strong. Repeating just makes them even better. You can have french manicure done in the gel, or various colours (or clear).
I don't want to sound like an advert for them (unless they're paying me!!!) but it really has saved my nails - I had false extensions for ages and it made my real nails worse and worse.

My friend was having a beautician come to her birthday party once and she was doing french manicures on people and I only gave my nails a week to grow for it and they were fine. There is a great new nail strengthener out by Revlon. It's called Calcium Gel Nail Hardener. Put that on everyday and then go get your french manicure. You should be fine.

i duno why but the skin on the sides of my finger nails is ';tearing'; and it really hurts... does ordinary lotion fix it

The skin around your fingernails are considered your cuticle, it's very common for this skin to be tough and tear. Ordinary lotion may fix it if you moisturize numerous times throughout the day however the best product I've ever used is the Sally Hansen Intensive cuticle cream (I can't remember the exact name of it off the top of my head but it comes in a silver pot, the stuff in the orange pot didn't help at all). I have the same problem. There is a cream for cutical and dry skin removal. It is make from Almond Oil which is very good for your skin. It may say cuticlal remover only but it works on hang nails too.
There is another cream called crack cream and it is made to mend dry cracked skin.
I would recommend a thicker lotion. Even better would be cuticle cream. As it gets warmer and dryer out, that part of your fingers will tend to tear and crack due to dryness. Use the cuticle cream after you wash your hands and a couple more times through out the day... you'll notice a big difference before you know it... And you can get it at walmart in the nail polish area for under $5
Hangnails. Sucks when that happens. I heard its caused by dry skin around the nails. Yes lotion or some Vaseline should help. I try not to pull at it, but I just take some toe-nail clippers and clip it off to the base so it won't annoy me and tempt me to pull at it more.

I have been biting my nails for 14 years (I know this is an bad habit) but I really want to stop. What can I do????Help!!!! ( this has to do with finger nails)?
-If you don't realize you're doing it, just try to keep your fingers busy by holding onto a stone or something like that.
-Try dipping your nails in lemon juice or nail polish remover. When you go to bite, there'll be a bad taste so you won't want to bit them.
-Wear mittens or gloves for a while. (This might not work as well.)
-Get your fingernails done really fancy and cute. You won't want to bite them because they look so awesometastic!
