My baby is 2 weeks old and her finger nails are quite long. I am nervous at cutting them .Advice pleaseBabys toe nails/finger nails?
hiya, wait til she is asleep (which should be often at this point lol) and you can either
a) bite them off
b) use an emery board
c) use baby nail clippers
d) tear them off (they are very soft)
make sure you cut straight across and don't leave any jagged edges, and don't make them too short :) and don't worry too much! if you're too nervous to do it, ask another mom to or else put mittens on ;)Babys toe nails/finger nails?
I used to bit e them off while i was breastfeeding my little one, now that she is six months i put her in her play gym and do them with baby nail clippers. I've only just started using them though. I'd definately suggest biting them.
You can use an emery board and file her nails down gently if you think that'll be easier. Or you can purchase the nail clippers specifically made for infants that have the small magnifying glass attached to them.
call in the bomb squad, we might have a problem hear greater then some nail clippers can deal with
I never clipped my babies nails. Instead, I filed them with an emory board. I was just so scared that the clippers would cut their little fingers.
Make sure when you do cut them that she is asleep so it will lessen the likely hood that you will snip her instead of the nail. Also take a deep breath and relax, you will get the hang of it! Congrats on a healthy baby!
Hold the hand steady, extend the finger, pull skin from bottom of nail and cut.
Don't worry if you nick, wounds heal.
The best way to describe it is to say it's like cutting nails on a cat or dog, don't take too much and don't cut unless the hand is steady.
After a bath. Clipping your child's nails is easier after the nails are wet the nails are more flexible. Try this on your self and you will feel and see the difference.
I have two boys and have never cut them or hurt them and to this day they still get there nails cut they way. they are 8 and 7.
