I used to use an emery board on my baby's nails. This kept the nail nice and smooth, so even if it was long it wasn't jagged and didn't scratch him or me.
I would usually file his nails while he slept or nursed.
When he was about 6 months I started using the nail clippers and we've been ok so far.
Good luck.Baby Boys Finger Nails help?
i chew my sons nails while hes sleeping so he wont move im scared i might acciedently bite his little finger off
(lol) my son scratched really bad too there really nothing you can do about it
cut them with the baby nail clippers when he is sleeping. once you do it a few times you will not be as scared, I clipped my kids nail while they were sleeping for probably the first year or so.
Our daughter is 4 months too and I have to cut her nails every other day as well. If she is awake I lay her down on the couch and give her a toy to hold in one hand and cut the other she is so occupied with the toy that she doesn't even notice what I am doing. Other times I will wait until she falls asleep and do it. Try giving him a little toy just something he can hold on to while you do it and see if that helps.
i trimmed my twins when they were sound asleep. either in the middle of a nap or the middle of the night. i would be more worried about chewing and ripping one badly than be scared of the clippers. try doing it during nap time when they are still
I have a 4 month old and his nails grow the same way. I use the baby nail clippers to cut them down and then file them. Try doing it when he is sleeping, my son sleeps through the whole process.
Yep, I did the emery board, too. You can get the little bitty ones in the baby section; they're much easier to use on little fingers. Wait until baby is asleep.
