Why doe we have finger/toe nails?

what is its main purpose? Why doe we have finger/toe nails?
All primates have wide flat nails, and most remain arboreal. I would look to evolutionary biology and the utility of nails in arboreal life for the answer. Why doe we have finger/toe nails?
Fingernails and toenails are the evolutionary end result of claws. They are vestigial structures in primates. A claw which is large enough to bear weight is called a hoof, as in the hooves of horses.
to scratch ourselves
protect ur finger tips
so we could swim and scratch our body and get little things with our hands!

remember -if you don't have nails you can't swim!
To protect our fingertips and toes
Their purpose is to protect our tender digits.
thats a good question....mb to help pick up things??
To pick your nose with!!
to scratch and pick and to pick up things on the floor that are hard to pick up im sure they use to have more of a use like maybe in a fight if ur weaponless but now the main use for girls is to waste money getting em fixed up.....haha jping but ya thats all i got
that's a good question!! hmm, i think that it is to protect the blood vessels in your fingers.
