Crevasses in finger nails?

For the first time in January 2007, I noticed my nails in the nail bed thinner than usual. They then began growing back at a normal thickness, thus creating a horizontal crevasse in my thumb and pointer finger nails.


It did not happen again until last week, and it's exactly the same.


Has anyone had this experience before? What could it be?





I saw my doctor who checked my iron level as well as my magnesium (which was low). Could this be related?
