More calcium would help.

  • Why have we finger & toe nails?

Well, in THEORY - we still need our finger-nails to reinforce / protect our finger-tips.

We don't really NEED toe-nails anymore in our current lifestyle. They're evolutionary carry-overs... much like our appendix and any other vestigial organs we've still got.Why have we finger %26amp; toe nails?
To protect the ends of our digits. Why have we finger %26amp; toe nails?
they are dead cells... body extra waste growth...
    they are vestigial claws
it is the natural protection of fingers in hands and toes
To protect our toes and fingers from injury, and to scratch or pick at something like animals use them for more grip and to eat/tear something apart.

I use mine for getting way in my nose to pick those hard to pick boogers.
Because that is the way God made us.
It stems from when we evolved from early primates/man.

We needed the claws to dig, scratch and protect.. Its since evolved that they are shorter and thinner but still work for protection and for gripping
my boyfriend says ';to chew on'; lol
To scratch ourselves and poke our nose!
    For food.
Because if we didn't Rimmel would go out of business

Cutting finger nails at night time - what's the belief(superstition) ?

Superstition: do not cut nails at night! Logic for that: it is dark, not sufficiently bright, you may hurt the finger! (ancient times!) It is always better to cut nail during day: save power! (and if you do cut the finger by an error of judgement, there is enough time to find band aid, doctor etc.!)Cutting finger nails at night time - what's the belief(superstition) ?
Confuscious say: He who cut fingernails at night

will have short nails in morning.Cutting finger nails at night time - what's the belief(superstition) ?
    Never on a Sunday.
Never cut your nails on a Sunday.
I heard this from my mum that when a person is dead, the person's nails will drop off at nite.

Short finger nails, will they stay this way forever?

I always had finger nails that are wider than longer. They are fairly short, about 1/4 inch long and 1/2 inch wide. I don't like the look of my nails and I get envious of other people with regular looking nails. I know this is my own doing and it has been a habit since I was really young [about 5-6 years of age], and I still bite my nails even though I don't like the look - this habit is just ingrained in my head and it has a strong correlation with stress/anxiety. I find myself prying off little bites of my finger nails whenever I work on something that worries me [like bidding on eBay].

If I never bite my nails again [though I doubt this will happen], could it be possible that they will ever look like the average person's nails [like one that didn't bite them all the time]?Short finger nails, will they stay this way forever?
I feel your pain, I started to bite my nails as soon as my teeth came in. It was so hard but at 21 I stopped biting, every-time I wanted to bite I just thought about how much easier life would be if I wasn't always hiding my hands so no one could spot my nails. My nails looked horrible, I bit way passed the nail bed, they grew in deformed and strange. So I went and got myself a manicure it worked they looked great. Let them grow! You will be so much happier, and if they look bad get a manicure. In-fact if you get a manicure now they will take off any jagged edges that trigger you to start biting, also a stress ball works wonders when you are bidding on eBay lol.Short finger nails, will they stay this way forever?
You will never know until you stop eating your fingers and learn to see if they will. Why don't you distract yourself with something so you don't chew your nails.

Chew gum, or find something else you can do to limit your finger-gnawing act. And keep in mind how nice your hands will look if you stopped. And have you ever seen someone chew their fingers, its quite ridiculous, so keep in mind the image you portray of yourself to others.
im pretty sure that they'll grow back normal. but theres this special clear fingernail polish that makes them grow and everytime you bite your nails youll taste the polish and then youll just stop bitting after a while. it worked for me. you might wanna give it a shot. =]]
if u dont stop bitting them

On finger nails a punch like impression is noticed. What is the cause and remedy?

As the nail groves and it moves with it then fine, it should be gone.

If it is black in colour it may be blood blister under the nail, will not go away but if it does not grow, it is OK, next time you see a doctor show him, but if is starts to change shape or get bigger and or hurts run to the emergency room of any hospital.

If not see a Doctor, soon.On finger nails a punch like impression is noticed. What is the cause and remedy?
your finger nails protect the fingertips from injury because they are finely nerve abundant areas that are composed of keratin protein and sulfur.the nail bed is the sking underneath the nail and the area in which the nail grows on top.

nail disorders or changes or abnormalities are typically the result of nutritional deficiencies or specific conditions and often reveal disorders in other areas of the body.changes in your fingernail often indicate illness in the body before the rest of the body will.

    Unhealthy Finger nails?

hi my nails keep breaking and they are really weak, i try to take good care of them i use a good quality nail hardener which my friend bought me from her beauty college, and even that doesn't seem to help that much, i work in admin so i do alot of typing perhaps this is why they break, is there anyway i can make them healthy and strong, maybe a certain food i can eat more of or something anything please help i want nice nails for my wedding but dont want to get false ones as the destroy nails.

    ThanksUnhealthy Finger nails?
Your fingernails and hair are a reflection of your health. If your nails are breaking and weak try and eat a more balanced diet including breads, fruits and vegetables and cutting down on sugar and salts and fats.

Not only will your fingernails be stronger so will your overall health.Unhealthy Finger nails?
This is a great website to tell you all you need to know in caring for your nails. I hope it helps you:

    www.cnn.com/HEALTH/library/WO/00020.ht鈥?
Healthy nails aren't a result of what you put ON them... they're a result of what you put IN your stomach.

Eat a diet composed of 50% fruit and raw vegetables in order to supply necessary vitamins, minerals and enzymes.

    * Eat foods rich in sulfur and silicon, such as broccoli, fish and onions. Include foods rich in biotin such as soy, brewer鈥檚 yeast and whole grains.

    * Drink plenty of water and other liquids.

    * You may supplement your diet with royal jelly, spirulina or kelp, which are rich in silica, zinc and B vitamins and help to strengthen your nails.

    * Drink fresh carrot juice daily, this is high in calcium and phosphorus and is excellent for strengthening nails.

    * Eat well and your whole body will be better, healthier, more beautiful!

*Don't use your nails as tools

*Don't cut your cuticles... moisturize them after bathing and simply push them back with a cuticle pusher.

By the way, if you don't think you can get your nails healthy-looking in time for your wedding, don't feel guilty for getting false nails. The false nails will damage your existing nail but once you've removed the falsies and have grown out the part of the nails that were under the falsies, all the damage is gone completely and you can start fresh again. Congrats on your engagement and good luck! :)

  • My finger nails peel??? [PICTURES]?

About a year ago my nails started doing this werid peeling thing. Its like a top layer of the nail is so thin it peels off. Its not the pink part its the white nail part you can clip off. I've tried Nail Teck nail medicines and its not working. I've been taking a nail file and filing it off. What is wrong with my nails? do you reconize it? please be nice :P

You have some sort of vitamin and/or mineral deficiency.

You need a dull blood test from your Doctor.

It may seem weird to see you Doctor over something that seems so trivial but even the ridges along the nails are another mineral deficiency sign.My finger nails peel??? [PICTURES]?
That happens to everybody--perfectly normal. If you peel it, it just makes the nail thinner. Try not to pick at it too much, and it will go away. Hope this helped!
It happens if I touch washing liquid without wearing any gloves and some soaps.

    It goes away, eventually
Yeah its happened to me on my toes dont pick at it and eventually it will just grow out.
eww clean your nails before you put pictures of them on the internet! :) jk uhm, try drinking more milk? maybe

Here are eight of the top causes of peeling fingernails.

    ***Climate Changes

No, we鈥檙e not talking about carbon emissions. Your nails are not suffering from global warming the way the polar bears are. It鈥檚 just that sudden changes in the weather, or extreme weather conditions, might be affecting your nails. Usually the culprit is cold, dry weather that dehydrates the nail plate, causing layers to separate and flake off. To solve it, try rubbing in a rich lotion or moisturizer every morning and evening鈥攁nd wear gloves!

    ***Dietary Issues

Many people will say that if your nails are peeling, it鈥檚 a lack of protein that鈥檚 the cause. This is really unlikely in North America or Western Europe, even if you鈥檙e a hard-core vegan. Usually, if diet鈥檚 to blame for your fingernail problems, it鈥檚 a lack of biotin, sulfur, or B-vitamins (which is a concern for vegans). A good supplement, along with a few extra servings of raw vegetables and fruit, should alleviate the chipping.

    ***Prescription Medications

Some medicines have a drying effect on the skin and nails. If your peeling nails became an issue after you started taking a certain drug, you should head to the manufacturer鈥檚 website to double-check side effects. We鈥檇 never recommend quitting any physician-prescribed drug just for the sake of your fingernails. Instead, try improving your diet, as in step 2, and moisturizing, as in step 1. If that doesn鈥檛 work, pick a good nail strengthener (see step 8).

***Psoriasis, Yeast Infections, or Other Skin Conditions

If you鈥檙e suffering from a skin condition such as psoriasis or a yeast infection, there could be knock-on effects for your nails. Many psoriasis patients also report chipping and peeling nails. If you鈥檝e been given a prescription ointment or cream for what鈥檚 on your skin, try rubbing it on your nails, too.

    ***Chemical Exposure

Lots of people don鈥檛 take proper precautions when cleaning the house or conducting pest control. For the sake of your lungs, ventilate the room. For the sake of your nails, wear gloves. Chemicals and solvents present in many cleaning products can dry out or damage your fingernails, leading to peeling.

    ***Immersion in Water

Water swells and separates the layers of the nail plate. If you keep re-wetting the nails, they never dry properly, leading to flaking and peels. If you鈥檙e in a job where you soak your hands or have to wash them regularly, you鈥檙e going to have nail problems unless you take evasive action. Wear gloves wherever possible, and moisturize at least twice a day, if not more. Fitness swimmers who spend more than an hour in the pool should rub olive oil or petroleum jelly into their nails before starting their laps.

    ***Post-Fake Nail Trauma

Really well-done acrylic nails look great, but it鈥檚 pretty much inevitable that your nails will be paper thin and damaged once you have the fakes taken off. You鈥檒l have to be patient, and stimulate new growth with diet, moisturizers, and nail strengtheners. But don鈥檛 just pick any nail strengthener鈥?br>

***The Wrong Kind of Nail Treatments

Nail strengtheners and peeling nail solutions contain a lot of chemicals. Most of them are designed to make your nails bond back together to prevent breaking and peeling. Some of them may actually be making the problem worse. Formaldehyde, an ingredient in several popular strengtheners, can cause drying and irritation of the skin and nails鈥攏ot to mention being a suspected cause of breast cancer. Switch to a nail care product that鈥檚 free of formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl pthalate, such as Nail Aid鈥檚 Peeling Nail Intense Repair Gel. Your entire body, not just your nails, will thank you.

How do i treat an ingrown finger nail?

i,am pretty sure i have an ingrown finger nail it started 2 days ago, just a little sore now today its been getting really bad . my left index finger has swelled up and is so much pain i can not stand it i have been awake all night . PLEASE someone tell me what i can do its also throbing bad and making thr rest of my hand hurt sometimesHow do i treat an ingrown finger nail?
If it is at the point of redness and swelling you are probably past the time for self treatment. Infection of the digits can quickly move to deeper tissue, including the bone. To try and remove or raise up the edge of the nail now is going to cause you very much pain. I would suggest an ER or walk in clinic to numb it up and take care of it. They may then give you antibiotics if necessary. How do i treat an ingrown finger nail?
A manicurist might be able to help, otherwise you'll need it surgically removed. A friend of mine gets yearly toe-nail surgeries due to a sports injury that damaged his big toenail. He gets ingrown nails and needs them removed by a surgeon often.
i used to get those, you are gonna have to get a pointed nail file and put it under your nail and pry it out. then stick a small piece of cotton under it so that it doesnt go back in there. oh yeah, and peroxide too!
Get a manicure unless it is infected than go to an urgent care.
take a pair of twezzers and yank it off

Why boys keep their small finger nail longer than other fingers ?

i have notice that all my frnds(boys) have grown thei little finger nail little bit longer .

y have dey done so ?

is this a kind of superstitioun ?

boys think girls are complicated creatures, but they donno that they find girls complicated cause they are complicated themselves.they do certain things for no reason at all.

    look at this:http://www.citehr.com/157832-boys-girls-鈥?/a>

look at the post-boys and girls are not the same. Why boys keep their small finger nail longer than other fingers ?
    One of 4 things:

Because their friends are doing it.

    Because they're doing coke.

Because they are trying to play guitar (should really grow the thumb out then too)

Because they need a long hook to pick their noses.
It used to be a COKE thing to grow the pinkie nail really long but I don't know if that's still the case. It's just kind of dumb if you ask me.
I remember one guy who did in highschool, he had know logical reason. He was a complete moron.
I grow the fingernails out on the first four fingers of my right hand to play guitar....
    Because they think it's cool...
they have there finger nails long like that because there doing coke
    its to pick out earwax
    because they do coke
because we all use the other 4 fingers more not just boys so they break easy!

Question on finger nails--uneven white part of nail at the tip..?

Okay, this will sound stupid but I've asked a couple people and they don't seem to understand what I'm talking about but...

The natural white tip of nails when they're grown out, that part where it meets the normal pink of the nail is all uneven and wiggly. All the people I see have a perfect even strip of white on their nail tips if it's grown out and unpainted--but mine aren't. They're all filed evenly and I've never chewed on my nails so I don't see how they're not even...

How can I fix this? I tried going under the nail and pushing it back a little to even it out, but it didn't work very well. =/

Sorry if this sounds totally stupid heheQuestion on finger nails--uneven white part of nail at the tip..?
i have the exact same problem. i think its best to see a professional. its really embarrassing coz you cant grow your nails. they look really bad.Question on finger nails--uneven white part of nail at the tip..?
i get what your saying. if you totally stop trying to even it out or even clean under your nails ( i know grows huh) the skin starts to attach itself back to the nail and it will become more even.

i had a nail like that but it does take some time. until then keep them painted so know body knows that it might be dirty under there

    Finger Nails messed up?

I decided to put on some fake nails the other day so I had a friend of mine do them for me well she messed them up and I had to pull then off a few hours later and then I had to file the glue of f . I really filed away to much of my nail and they are killing me(There pretty bad if I were to fill my nail anymore there would be a hole on top and my nails have pits and ridges now there smooth thats how bad they are.). I didnt file the tip I filed on top.

I was wondering how long it would take for my nails to get better or if they could get infected?

Or if this has happened to anyone else is there anything for the pain cause its really bothering me.Finger Nails messed up?
Yes, it could get infected. So keep them clean and as dry as possible. Do not put anything on your nail. They will feel better in a couple of days.

Amy, Genesis is the first book of the Bible. Have you ever heard of The Holy Bible?

    It's very famous.

It would indeed take a sister (nun) years to teach you about the whole book of Genesis. Scholars today are still learning about it.

You had best go to a nail salon and pay to get a manicure.May a sister teach me Genesis then cut my finger nails?
I can not see why not. I am on here and need to clean the black nail varnish off my nails is that a sin ??

  • Why do we have finger/toe nails?

Pre-evolution we will have needed claw like ends to our digits to help us tear meat from flesh, get into fruit and nuts etc. It strengthens our digits and will have also been used as one of our defenses when attacking predators. Predators, as in the other animals trying to eat us, not the 80's Arnie film ';I aint got time to bleed!';Why do we have finger/toe nails?

We have toe and finger nails only to protect the tips of these sensitive parts of the body. They offer a protection barrier against all kinds of things and the ends of our fingers would be a mess without them.

Is the splinter completely under your nail, or is part of it sticking out from under it? It part of it is sticking out, grab some tweezers and pull it out. What causes those white marks that sometimes appear on the finger nail?

White marks on the fingernails are called Leukonychia. The majority of them are caused by minor injuries to the forming nail under the skin. Even a relatively minor bump can leave a mark that stays with the nail until it grows out.

If you have a large number of white marks persistently for months, you MAY have a zinc deficiency. See your doctor for a checkup and be sure to ask. What causes those white marks that sometimes appear on the finger nail?
It's funny because when I was a little boy they used to tell us that those white marks were caused because of telling lies.

I don't know how long I believed it, but I thought I was a bad boy. I grew up in South America. Now once in a while when I see them on my fingernails I cannot stop but thinking of 'what lie did I tell?' , even to this day. What causes those white marks that sometimes appear on the finger nail?
I've been told it's from a lack of vitamin c or calcium found in fish. My mum always makes me eat fish if i ever get them and they go away
Little white marks (leukonychia) often appear after minor injuries. (Example: accidentally bumping your hand into something). They may last for weeks or months and usually go away on their own. I've had them and actually have some now. They're normal. We're all bound to get them with normal use of our hands. The chance of developing them increases the more we use our hands (or even simply getting into too much of a hurry).
I heard that it means you're lacking nutrition.
The ones that form at the bottom and eventually 'grow' their way up? I've always heard that it's an iron or zinc deficiency.
I've noticed that my nails tend to get white marks after I have slammed my fingers into something. Also, most healthy people's nails turn white at the tips when they have been cut, which indicates that a cut or injury to the nail will turn it white.
    Lack of calcium

  • Finger nail filed too thin after acrylic nails applied?

I just had my nails done yesterday. I got the acrylic tips and then sealed with the gel type stuff. As the manicurist filed now my nail before she applied the false tips, she filed it too thin and it started to bleed. I have now removed the nails and the one that she filed too thin is very sore. Since I have removed the nail, I have put peroxide on it and antibiotic ointment. Should this be enough, or should I go to a medical doctor?Finger nail filed too thin after acrylic nails applied?
Just keep it clean and cover it during the day to keep germs out. Uncover it at night though so it can breathe. It should be ok if you keep up with the antibiotic ointment, but if it doesn't start to heal within the next week or 2, i would go to the doctor.

Did she do it with the electric file? I hate those things. :( next time you get your nails done tell the person doing your nails what happened so they will be careful not to repeat the mistake of that person.Finger nail filed too thin after acrylic nails applied?
Whatever you do, don't go back to that salon! At this point all you can do is wait it out. Allow your nails to grow out and heal. I would keep using the ointment.

It shouldn't hurt to have your nails done. If you go to a reputable salon and not a budget salon, chances are you won't have damaged nails like what you experienced.

As the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.
You could go to the Dr, but there's not much they can do. When I had my solar nails removed, they were very thin and painful sometimes, and all I could do was wait for them to grow out. I did buy a nail strengthener at the drug store and kept a layer of it on to help. I also never did dishes without wearing gloves.
I agree with previous answers that what you did should be enough. Nails and nail beds are tough and can take a lot of abuse. keep check on it. before u know it, it will be grown back and the soreness gone!
That should be enough, but if it still hurts after a week I would go to the doctor.
It should be fine, but never go back to that salon again. Obviously, they don't have a clue about doing nails.

What is the worst color for finger nail polish?

just curious of what everyone thinks... Please indicate why you think so aswellWhat is the worst color for finger nail polish?
anything that would make your nails look like they have some sort of infection. mostly greens and yellows. What is the worst color for finger nail polish?
    green
    anything in flourescent colors....ack!
black and yellow~~~~~~~the bumblebee colors. red is pretty but if you wear it to much it turns ur nails yellow
i think blue, its just doesn't look right at all
Any color in the wrong brand can look tragic just as any color can look fantastic in the right brand - stick to high end nail color polishes
I personally don't like black. Many think it looks edgy, I think it looks kind of Halloween-ish. I also don't like green for a nail polish...it reminds me of fungus, not exactly something I want to think of when looking at a lady's nails LOL.
Green. I simply don't like the colour green on nails.
    Hiya -

I think that the darker colors can look great but some stain the nails and there is nothing worse then polish stained nails. Try a French or natural on nails and always darker colors on your toes! I also like to avoid yucky greens and browns!
    yellow or violet
Any shade of green (unless very very dark) it will look like you have gangrene and that's not something you want to look like!
    orange....its the nastiest color
    **** GREEN EW.
I really hate brown, because it looks like they just picked their butt and have poo left on their nails.
I love all of them. Of course, if you were more specific, like ';What is the worst color for (specific event, etc), I'd say neon colors for formal events, etc..

I guess my least fav. would be..............the light sky blue ones.

TO PERSON ON TOP: Hey! :) My friends and I painted our nails citrus colors (lime green, yellow and orange) once!
    yellow or orange
Lime green or yellow. A very weirdo color on nails, makes one look like an alien.
All white! French tips are okay, but all white just looks so weird! It makes you look like supernatural!
really bright colors, like neon colors or white (it looks like you put on white out). I hate it when colors just stick out.
I don`t like orange or yellow. It makes the skin look sick.
neon colours ; lime green, yellow, bright hot pink (the seedy kind) , ORANGE IS WORST!!!!! f***in uglay
Black, I think. I love the color black, for clothes, cars etc., but I don't think for polish.

What are the new fall colors for toe and finger nail polish?

Seventeen says... Pastels (Greys, pinks, blues)

    InStyle says.... fun corals

cosmoGIRL! says.... deep reds and mohoganys. What are the new fall colors for toe and finger nail polish?
Hi... Tradition always ';dictates' darker colors for the Fall season... I'm sure nail polish / varish companies such as my favorite - OPI - will soon come out with a whole array of new shades. One I'm wearing now is called ';Don't Wine - Yukon Do It';. It is a darker shade of red for fall..(j.i.c. you were wondering - yes, I am a c/d - t/v and my toe nails are always ';done 365'; my long finger nails are done less fequently due to what society says must be).

But your better nail polish companies will once again give us a gorgeous shade selection to choose from shortly.

    Enjioy.

A few months. the trouble is it drys out in the bottle and gets thick. and very hard to use. Just dump it ..How do it take for finger nail polish to get old?
Don't use a nail polish for more than 6 months, if possible keep the bottles in refridgerator.

I accidentally chopped a small tip of my finger nail and skin, what can I use/do to stop the throbbing pain?

And please don't tell me to pour alcohol because I know it'll hurt more.

And should I wrap it after wards with band aid or gauze?I accidentally chopped a small tip of my finger nail and skin, what can I use/do to stop the throbbing pain?
If you have a saline solution wash it with saline then if you have iodine, dab a little (but it's okay if you don't have).

Don't cut any loose skin or finger nails.

Wrap a band aid a little bit tight to stop the bleeding if it still bleeding. It'll continue to throb because fingers have most of the smallest veins on them.

Change the band aid after 5 hrs. Before going to bed, when putting on new band aid, loosen it a little so it'll breath then wrap a gauze over the band aid.

If it's a minor cut, your wound will heal in 4-%26gt;6 days but if you chopped of maybe half or even 1/4, it's best to see a doctor.I accidentally chopped a small tip of my finger nail and skin, what can I use/do to stop the throbbing pain?
Ice it. Disinfect it with Peroxide. Take a tylenol or two. However the instruction state on your age range.

    Gauze it.
    yes wrap it after wards

  • How can I clean the grout and tile that I spilt finger nail polish on?? Oh and my cabinets?? It is a mess.?

On the tile surface you can scrape it off with a fingernail or a Popsicle stick. If it ran onto the grout you might need to get a grout saw (looks like single edge razor blade with a coating of carbide on its cutting edge - about $2). You can scrape the surface of the grout with that. If you end up going deep you might need to get a small can of premixed grout in a matching color and smear it on as per the can's directions. How can I clean the grout and tile that I spilt finger nail polish on?? Oh and my cabinets?? It is a mess.?
Quick solution - nail polish remover! Use a cotton ball or swap just like you would removing polish from your nails, and have another ball or swap of water standing by to 'rinse' after you've washed. Definitely try test spots in semi-hidden spaces to be sure you won't bleach out the wood or grout. If the cabinets a particle board you might have a little bleaching (especially if you rub a lot) - try dabbing with a swab and wiping with a damp rag in this area if that is the case. Best of luck! How can I clean the grout and tile that I spilt finger nail polish on?? Oh and my cabinets?? It is a mess.?
If you spilled the polish in the grout lines, it has most likely seeped into the grout. Grout is extremely porous. You might try qvc.com Look for Item # V25711 grout and tile cleaner and sealant. For the cabinet try #V25942 Miracle Finish

I hope this helps. I know how disappointing those nail polish accidents can be.

Is it safe to cut a cats paws with a finger nail clipper?

they sell special ones specifically for cat nails. but them. theyre easier and safer to use.Is it safe to cut a cats paws with a finger nail clipper?
Not really. The clippers designed for animals are curved to conform to the shape of their claws. Clippers designed for people are flat and can cause damage to the claw because it actually has to crush it in order to cut it. This can cause them to flake and split which can lead to infections. You're far better off buying a set of clippers designed for your pet.Is it safe to cut a cats paws with a finger nail clipper?
You mean their claws? Yes. Just be sure it is sharp enough and you know what you are doing. I do this with my cats twice a month. Just be sure you are careful and don't cut down too far and hit a blood vessel. Here's how to do it...
I usually use small/baby human nail clippers when I cut my cat's claws. Just push gently on the cat's paws to make the claws extend, and clip the tips, making sure not to cut the quick (they bleed and the cat WILL let you know!). Might help to have a second person holding the cat while you cut the nails, though I have one cat who rolls onto his back while I clip his nails. Hope you have more of the latter! Good luck =)
    PAWS no, but CLAWS, yes.

We use a regular one for most of our cats, but some of the back nails are too thick to fit in the open section of the clippers so I had to look around for one that opened wider. They cut cleanly, and do a good job. We normally trim our cats claws once ever two weeks, just taking the tips off and making sure not to cut into the 'quick' where the blood supply is.
Yes, but you gotta make sure you don't cut it to short or they will start to bleed.
Yes, just make sure that you don't cut them too short. If you look at your cats claws you can sometimes see a pink section in the claw, if you cut too close to that (the quick) it will bleed, so be careful.

They do make special clippers but I always found them harder to use.
I'm going to assume you mean to clip their nails with a people nail clipper? Yes, you can if it's a good quality one and you're only taking the tips of the nails off. Be very careful to not take too much off - I'm sure you're aware of the fact that taking too much off can 'quick' them and cause the nail to bleed? Just wanted to mention that in case that was something that someone else out there didn't know about.

lol who said they wanted to attract men? Not everything that women do is geared towards attracting men.
its not to attract the men

but to show off to the women
i am not certain that women paint their nails to attract men... i think that some guys just happen to have weird fetishes about red nail polish.
i like the two inch claws women attach to their nails, making it impossible for them to pick up anything flat.

    ha...idiots
Same reason why guys think being dumb is attractive to women.
To scare them into submission with long blood red claws.

    Itchy finger nails???!!!!!?

This may sound really bizzare, but i get itchy under my finger nails, both hands and have to use nail file or another nail to get under to scratch it, i feel really odd about this, don't think it serious enough to bother my GP, but just wondered if anyone knows why this is?Itchy finger nails???!!!!!?
Could you have an infection which is being spread by the use of the nail file? I would see your GP to get it checked out.Itchy finger nails???!!!!!?
It could be an infection, I would go get it checked out
I don't know if you do hand-washing or dishes. But bleach, soap-powders and strong detergents can do that to your fingers and hands. I used to get tiny little bumps on my hands and under my fingernails but since i use gloves feathers beads and all it has gone. Must be sooo irritating for you. I know it worried me. Good luck and i hope it goes away soon.:))
Could be a yeast infection, best to go to your gp, he'll prob be able to give you some cream to clear it.
Are they your real nail? If they are not, it could be a fungal infection.
It may be fungal infection. Make sure you dry your hands properly and keep them dry. You can try some fungal powder from good chemists. If they work, fine. But seek medical advice if you are still worried.
    Ooh! How odd.........!

I stuck my finger in my hamsters cage through the bars and he was biting my finger nail i guess and then?

he made a squealing sound kind of like and his mouth was kind of bleeding?? Did i hurt him?I stuck my finger in my hamsters cage through the bars and he was biting my finger nail i guess and then?
He may have got a bit of your nail in his mouth and cut himself with it. I wouldnt do this again because its like tormenting your pet. Especially through the day because they are tired and cant see properly. (they dont have good eye sight in the first place)

He will think you were holding food for him and thats the reason why he bit your nail. Especially if your finger smellt like food.

Atleast you now know not to do it again =]I stuck my finger in my hamsters cage through the bars and he was biting my finger nail i guess and then?
He may have bit a piece of your nail off and it could have cut his mouth. If he seems okay now, he'll probably be fine. There is the possibility that he swallowed it and it might do some more damage. If you can afford to, I'd take him to the vet or at least call one. If he seems to be eating and drinking well, he's probably fine though.
he probably just got cut on your nail i wouldnt let him do that he coudl hurt himself more next time
bad thing to start don't give treats or anything from bars or cages

How to fix a messed up finger nail?

I was picking at the cuticle of my nail and i started to take little pieces of my nail apart slowly and now my nail is indented were the part were the cuticle is. It looks gross. is there something i can do to fix this? How to fix a messed up finger nail?
Nope...just wait until it grows out. About 90 days from root to tip.

How to fix a messed up finger nail?
leave it alone, keep it clean %26amp; dry to prevent an infection, and see a manicurist.
you can have it removed and see if the new nail grows back ';normal';.

But, the Dr will not guarantee any success:if you damaged the nail bed,the new nail can be all lumpy-bumpy.

Bite-ting you finger nails ? Bad or gd?

    Whats the side effects?

I DO NOT EAT IT =).

been doing it for over 4years.Bite-ting you finger nails ? Bad or gd?
PLEASE, do not bite your nails! I had a good friend who used to bite her nails (and eat her boogers - same demon, just ickier). She wound up with pinworms - nasty worm things that live in you stomach and then make your butt itchy. You've got to go to the doctor to get medicine to make them come out. YUCK! Not worth it. Even once getting some nastiness like that is enough not to bite your nails. I personally used to suck my thumb (til I was 10 years old) and I stopped the habit by wearing nail polish (clear is fine) because it tastes nasty. If you insist on biting... wash your hands OFTEN!!!Bite-ting you finger nails ? Bad or gd?
Hi i have bitten my nails for 33 years. Yes they look pretty nasty but i do not suffer from any infections as i keep my hands very clean. I am not a nervous person actually i am a very confident person. It is just a habit i can't stop. I have tried every cream, potion and hardner on the market but i eventually liked the feeling of peeling the varnish off with my teeth.

I also have a lovely set of teeth which need very little attention.

I have also used false nails in the past and ended up biting them off too.

I wish i could stop biting as i am embarressed of them especially at parties and functions. i would say it is bad and the sooner the habit is broken the better.
Nail-biting (onychophagia) is a common stress-relieving habit. there are also plenty of other reasons eg hunger, nervousness, it can even be inherited- sounds silly but true.

Nail-biting can cause your fingertips to be red and sore and your cuticles to bleed. This can potentially cause other diseases and infections. Nail-biting also increases your risk for infections around your nailbeds and in your mouth. Dental problems and infections of the gums can be caused by nail-biting. For example severe tooth damage which can lead to major oral problems later on in life. It occurs because as you bite your finger nails, you鈥檙e slowly griding away the outside layer of your front teeth, exposing the more sensitive interior. Though, it does take a long time for this to occur, but if you鈥檝e had a nail biting habit for a number of years already, then it would be advisable to break that habit as soon as possible.

Long-term nail-biting can also interfere with normal nail growth and cause deformed nails.

It is not only unsightly but also makes a person looks less confident.

You can break the habit by investing in chewing gum and carry it on you at all times, this will replace your habit. Many people have also found it effective to use a bitter tasting cream on their finger nails; unfortunately this often only works short term.

here is a whole website about treatments- Good luck!

    Start playing guitar,

then you can bite the nails on your left hand as much as you like,

it's vital a guitarist has short nails on their left (fretting) hand :]

It's un-hygenic, it's basically like sucking on dirt and basically everything else you've touched.

    Bitten fingernails look disgusting.

    :]
Really gross and tells the world that you have a compulsive disorder to chew on yourself. if you saw a dog gnawing on its own tail i think you would throw up in your mouth just like i would. to be honest i think its an odd coping mechanism that i've also been guilty of. i also find myself needing to smoke at stressful times. These sorts of compulsions should be recognized first by the doer, and then approached by asking what's the feeling you get right before you bite and after? Your emotional sandwich at the time if you will. Ask questions to yourself about it like a detective. Stuff like that. Also i would try to start looking at it from the perspective that nail biting is really really really BEAT!! (%26lt;translated SUPER DISGUSTING) and then look for a solution to the moment of your ';emotional sandwich'; (= the moment that makes you want to bite-the biting-the feeling after)--

    goodlucky grossy-pants!!!

    xo, Lirio
well, there are tons of germs on your fingers that could be traveling into your system through your mouth, and it certainly doesn't look nice... but it's not really that bad for you. if the way your nails look bothers you and you want to stop, there are hundreds of online sites out there to help with that.

but if it doesn't bother you, then hey, there are worse ways to cope, right?
It is a nasty habbit to get into, I did it for years.

Side effects, raw fingers, infection. you get sick easier because you are touching everything then putting the fingers in your mouth.
Terrible, they look bad and not very hygienic.

Just file your nails if you don't want to cut them.

P.S. 'Bite-ing' is actually 'biting'. *winks*
disgusting next time you put them in your mouth imagine you have just cleaned the bus station toilets with no gloves there are germs that you can pick up from any where remember what i said yukkkkkkkkkkk

the side effects will be deadly i would imagine uh
there is nothing bad with biting them. but it is just a not a very nice thing to do. some people see it to be disgusting.

    Finger Nails - Brown Stripes?

On about 3 on my fingernails, I have brown strips. One of my fingernails show the brown strip really well, and I was just wondering if that's a problem? Should I be worried or anything? Should I go to a doctor? What's causing it? And is there anything I could use to take it away?Finger Nails - Brown Stripes?

  • Help with Natural (Finger) Nails...?

I'm trying to figure out why I can't seem to grow my finger nails on my middle fingers. The other 8 of my nails grow fine, healthy and strong, so it doesn't seem like it could be an issue with diet/nutrition. Yet, on the middle finger of each hand, I can barely get the nail past the edge of my finger. My best guess is that this is wear and tear, since that is the longest finger on the hand. Anyone have any suggestions on how to grow these nails?Help with Natural (Finger) Nails...?
My middle fingernails are the most prone to breakage too. In my case it is because the top joints of my fingers are slightly crooked and these nails are the broadest. To compensate I try to make sure to file away dry edges and do the following:

Do not use a nail clipper. Only use a nail file to shape and shorten them. Protect your nails with thicker moisturizers to protect them from exposure to water which dries them out %26amp; makes them brittle.

Try Revlon's disposable files made for weak nails. File in one direction only. Start on one side and file towards the middle, then go to the other side and file towards the middle of your nail. Smooth the nail into a squoval that mirrors you cuticle or the shape of the white part of your nail bed.

Finish the edges of the nail with a hindo stone, a smooth ceramic/stone nail file or the finest grit nail file you can find. You want to make the edges really smooth.

Also, avoid using metal nail files. I recommend using disposable nail files and changing them frequently. The fresher the grit, the less the drag which leads to tearing and peeling.

I also use a cuticle balm or nail oil to moisturize my nails and protect them from water since I wash my hands frequently.

    (ex. Solar Oil, OPI Avoplex)

Vit E oil, jojoba oil, Aquaphor Healing Ointment, Vaseline or plain Chapstick will work too.

Avoid products w/ formaldehyde or toluene, they are very hard on nails.

Some women swear by taking pre-natal vitamins.Help with Natural (Finger) Nails...?
Go the beauty supply store and buy some nail hardener. Paint it on the white of the fingernail for extra reinforcement, let dry, and then go over the whole nail. It could be wear and tear or it could be you have a weak spot on the side of the nail bed that you haven't noticed.

HOW FAST DO FINGER NAILS GROW??

I bite my nails to the exterme so i decided to have acrylic ones put on 2 weeks ago so how long will it take them to grow ive not really notice them grow much in 2 weeks.HOW FAST DO FINGER NAILS GROW??
you usually need infills 2-3 weeks after having acrylics applied so you should see them growing away from the base of your nail in the next week or so, you should try some nail varnish that tastes awful, it moistures the nails and stops you from biting them unless you get used to the taste. also you should try having gel nails applied as acrylics are too hard on your nails and they will weaken them even more so they won't grow very long.

so you know im not a know it all lol im a nail technician.HOW FAST DO FINGER NAILS GROW??
i was the same, i used to bite my nails so far down that i was convinced they would never gro back. but then i decided i wanted to grow them long, it took about 2 weeks but i had the help of a nail varnish that strenthens nails and helps them to grow. i can't remember what its called, but theres alot of nail varnishes like this around so just look out for one! mine is pink and its in a normal nail varnish bottle and costed around 拢2. good luck and stick to it! :)
For adults they grow (on average) about 0.02 inches a week (or almost half a millimeter).

    Help needed with finger nails,?

when my fingernails get to the end of my fingers they start to bend down hill ive been to see a doctor he has no idea ive also asked my mate who is a nail tec she has no idea so can anyone hear help,Help needed with finger nails,?
I had to learn all of these when I trained as a tech.....It could just be you but it could also be an indicator of a problem, heart, liver, respiratory problems and vitamin B12 deficiency are all linked to downward curving nails. If you know you have a problem, say asthma, then its probably that but if you're worried, especially if its something that's come on recently ask your Dr again to just run some basic tests to rule everything out.

    Help needed with finger nails,?
just the way they grow. nothing you can really do about them. i'd just cut them short and get acrylics.
my friend has that prob. interesting question. she just cuts them short but i think she bites them. eww.
well its the way they grow maybe get some fake ones!
have your thyroid checked my nails do that

Are finger/toe nails good for anything?

...If we save them for a long while, can be then burn them as fossel fuel? lolAre finger/toe nails good for anything?
My finger and toe nails grow like crazy. They grow so fast I have to cut them every week.

Why would you need re-evaluating?Are finger/toe nails good for anything?
If you can do it, knock yourself out!
i guess if you wanted to do something else with them im sure you could do something!
I don't think that nails have any sort of combustible matter in them. Unless you were to pressurize it... like REALLY pressurize it.

They're good for protecting the tips of your fingers. Or, you can scratch yourself with them.
They are definitely good for scratching! I am not sure of their use in anything else quite that productive. =)
hi buddy guess who this is???lol yes finger/toe nails are good for something they are good for opening up drink cans, they are good for peeling the labels/stickers off of the boxes at the grocery stores and they are also good for scratching the hell out of somebody that gives you problems you can poke them in the eye.lol take it easy extra.lol

i mostly clip my toe nails cause if i don't they will grow out uneven or they will break when i run into something. I hate it when that happens. As for my finger nails im a girl who works in a office and I want my finger nails to look filed, polished and straight. does this answer your question
I clip my finger nails the most. I'd probably clip my toe nails about 4 times a year since they regrow too fast and too much.
    toe nails.

I hate my toes I am constantly correcting myself and try to keep them small

Also I'm a dancer, and going on pointe would hurt my toes if i didnt clip them!
My finger nails seem to grow faster, which is kinda wierd. But i cut them more than my toe nails.
    finger nails-they are always breaking

  • About my finger nails????

How would I get them to grow longer and be thicker??

My nails seem really thin and never seem to grow! and when they actually do grow, which is hardly ever, they break off easily because they're so thin!!!

what would I eat? or what do I do? I want my nails to be healthier! My mom has thick nails and my dad doesn't... is it a genetic thing?About my finger nails????
Getting your nails to grow fast is really about taking care of them and keeping them healthy. Nails grow about 1/8 inch per month but what keeps nails from getting long is more about nail damage and poor nail care than about slow growth.

Shape your nails from the outside edge toward the middle, moving the emery board in one direction only rather than sawing it back and forth which damages the nail. Soaking nails in warm, soapy water before pushing cuticles back makes for less scraping on the nail bed (the pink part of the nail).

Condition nails with the same hand cream used on hands.Keeping nail polish on will keep nails from splitting, tearing or cracking. When doing a manicure, choose a nail shape that is wide and more square which is less apt to break, rather than a pointier oval shape. Using an oily nail polish remover will also help.

Eat a balanced diet to prevent vitamin deficiencies that create unhealthy nail conditions such as peeling, splitting or brittle nails. Don't fuss with your nails all the time as over filing can cause weakening and other nail problems.

Apply a strengthening clear polish to your nails regularly, even if you do not usually paint your nails.

Avoid submerging your hands in water if possible. For example, wear rubber gloves when doing dishes.

Calcium always helps. You can get calcium from a multi-vitamin or from a specific calcium supplement. The other thing I've found works REALLY well is gelatin. Gelatin is found in Jello, but in order to get the amount you need to grow long nails.

    =)About my finger nails????
    Sorry, but it's genetic.

The thickness of the nail plate is determined by the length of the matrix, which is determined by genetics.
take some vitamins and get Sally Hanson nail growth polish.

it strengthens too, and you can get it on colors, not just clear .!
milk will help a .little there are alos strenthinging nail polish that helps them from brakeing alos go to the drug store they have some erbal stuff that adds strength it worked for me
drinking lots of milk and eating lots of dairy should help your nails to grow and get a bit thicker and healthier. have a look in the beauty/nail section in whichever place you shop and find some nail polish remover that helps strengthen nails, i have one i think its either sally hansen or cutex. dont wear nail polish all the time cos its not good for your nails, and when you do use one like maybelline with iron which makes your nails stronger. sally hansen isnt too expensive and has alot of products for different needs so find the nail polish or nail polish remover that sounds the most like your nails.

I cant stop bittin mii finger nails please help 10 ptz. easyly ;)?

Get a professional manicure or give yourself one at least once a week. Wear gloves (I am serious) when sitting around at home, watching tv etc.

Look at magazines with all the pretty nails on the models.I cant stop bittin mii finger nails please help 10 ptz. easyly ;)?
I bit nails for the longest of time, all the way into my late 30's. A friend suggested to go get a hot sauce and kinda soak the nails and then when it went to your mouth, the yuk would be there and you will take your finger out of the bite situation. did not work, you finally dilute the taste and back to bitin'. I finally went to a nail place, had a manicure, and had some nails put on. Just enough to look good, and gosh, it felt funny to have something on the fingertips, like scratchin your head, whew, gotta change that up, and reaching for things, it was different. But now it has been 20+- years and I have nails. Hope this helps, just don't start biting your toenails as a substitute for your fingers. LOL Hope this helps ya!
my auntie also has taht habit well you should probably chew something other tahn your fingernail why not try chewing gum instead or candy taht will distaract you from chewing your nails and always go for a manicure every 2 weeks or so this is the treat ment for biitten nails
Put on some specialised polish on your nails you can easily get from pharmacies because they have a horrid taste and you wouldn't exactly bite them as much!

Try to be aware of it more often aswell.
My sister did that a lot. What she did was put nail polish remover on her nails so if she tryed it would taste bad. Shes crazy lol. But yeah she stopped after a while
get acrylic nails done at the salon so then you cant bite them .. and they're pretty lol.

Should I take my finger nail off or keep it on?

Today I got acrylic nails put on; I ended up hitting my pinky finger on something and now almost the entire nail, including my own nail, is coming off. I have a band aid on it now, but I don't know if I should keep the nail on and see if it grows back/falls off or just take it completely off.Should I take my finger nail off or keep it on?
I am a nail tech and have seen this before. Wrap your finger tip in gause (sp?) or a large band aid for a day or two. When it isnt so sore, clip back the artificial nail so it cant get caught on anything and put a bandaide around the nail holding it down so it wont catch on anything. Slowly keep clipping it back until it isnt getting caught on things.

Dont bother trying to take the nail off. Keep it short and let it heal on its own. Clip the nail back as it gets out where it could snag on something. Just do this as it grows out. It will be okay. u can keep the artificial nails on on the other nails and leave this one to heal.

Good luckShould I take my finger nail off or keep it on?
Finger nails usually grow back in a couple of weeks. Ive lost a few due to crushing my finger or hitting it with a hammer or something similar. I kept the old nail even though it turned purple and brown and was obviously dead as protection for the new nail. but eventually it fell off by itself and there was a new nail underneath.
    ouch!!

you should let it try to let your actual finger nail heal before you do anything. then, if it doesn't heal for a while, you may need to see a doctor:/

I am a mother of 2 teenagers 12 and 14. I don't allow them to wear nail polish. Its just a personal pref. They don't let them grow long and neither do I. Since I haven't allowed them their whole life to wear it, they now tell me how 'gross' it looks on other people when there's half the nail polish missing.
painted finger nails are so not natural!
Sure! They're nice if they're kept up. I especially like long fingernails (but not witch-like long) for back scratches (prrrr).
mostly no, sometimes painted is sexy though

also I like em short, except sometimes when they dig into my back its sexy

  • Is Finger nail biting related to anxiety?

I am really bad at biting my nails. And I heard it's related to anxiety. Is that true? And also is it worth it to go to a doctor for a nail biting problem? The reason why is that nothing has worked. I'd be able to stop biting my nails for 5days and then I just start again. Is Finger nail biting related to anxiety?
Anxiety I'm sure could be one reason. I used to bite my nails all the time and I still chew on my fingernails but don't bite them off. It bothers me too I definetly feel for you. You wouldn't only bite your nails if you had anxiety, you could just bite them straight out of habit. Is Finger nail biting related to anxiety?
Yes, nervousness is a big part of it and could be a obsessive compulsive disorder(OCD). I would try replacing it with another habit. That is what most people do when the have a habit to get rid of(like smoking, you chew gum,) I used a rubber band around my wrist and played with that. But mine was so bad, i had to go to the doctor to get medication like an antidepressant. Don't let them scare you. Some are mild and you may not have to be on them long. I was on for 3 months. Please talk to your doctor it is not only unsightly and embarrassing but not good for your teeth and gums and also you can get infections in your nails,

2 of my nails look as if someone dabbed them with red nailpolish. Im pretty sure there is stained blood under them. I cannot remember how i got it because itsb een like that for a month or so. How can i get rid of it. Like i said its just like a big dot on my 2 fingernails its not covering the whole nail.BLood under finger nails.?
The exact same thing happened to me a couple of months ago. I jammed my fourth finger in a drawer and it bled under the nail (the blood didn't cover my whole nail either). After about a month or so I got really worried too-because the blood didn't go away. But I read somewhere on the internet that the blood is dry and the only way to get rid of it is to let the nail grow out. It worked! Even though it has been a long 4 months of waiting my nail finally grew out and the dried blood went with it. I am pretty sure the only way to make the blood go away is to let the nail grow out...unless you want to pull the nail completely off (which I would not recommend)

Hope I helped!BLood under finger nails.?
I'm so sorry about your problem! Try running water %26amp; trying to get it under your fingernails. If this doesn't work, I suggest you call your doctor, and make an appointment with him!

This may be caused because of an infection...

    *Hope this Helps!*

    My newborns finger nails? ?

my baby was born at 38 weeks and since he was ';premature'; he was born with out finger nails ... when can i expect them to come in?My newborns finger nails? ?
Interesting, when my son was born, 41weeks 2days, his fingernails were red, they went to pink a few days later, but i am sure they will grow in, but maybe take pics of them to keep track, its an interesting part of ur baby's beginnings that u might want to look back at in a few years. My newborns finger nails? ?
38 weeks is not usually considered premature; my dd is 3mos and her nails are thin and sharp! they have been that way since birth and she was full term....u can try to find smaller mittens 2 keep him from scratching, if you can't we used to put some of those kinda long nborn socks on her hands and roll them all the way up the arm as far as they will go; takes them longer 2 get them off and she usually slept all night without getting them off.....hth, gl
once a baby reaches 37 weeks maturity they aren't considered premature, so I'm not so sure that's the reason.

i would ask your doctor about them, and see what he says.
you should talk to your community health/child health nurse or midwife about it. All three of my babies were born at 38 weeks and they all had fingernails

    Help! Stained Finger Nails?

    I need help.

I painted my nails about 2 weeks ago, a tourqoise/blue color.

Just yesterday, i took it off, and my thumb was a blueish color, and it wouldnt come off after i used nailpolish remover like a ton of times!

WHAT COULD TAKE IT OFF? i put clear ontop, will that help? :SHelp! Stained Finger Nails?
no, sorry, get good nail polish! no the cheep ****.

your have to wait till they grow out (about a month).

paint your nails the whole month, with good nail polish!

    (:Help! Stained Finger Nails?
the same thing happens with you use red or other bright colours. if you remove all colour from the nails and leave it for a couple days it will go away. there isnt really much else you can do. to prevent this happening next time perhaps put clear nail polish on first as a base coat then the coloured nail polish so the colour isnt directly on your nails.
when you use a red - blue color on your nails its really a good idea to put on a base coat before your color to prevent the color from bleeding into the nail.

-but no worries it can only reallyy stain the first layer or so, just use a light buffer (very smooth nail file) and buff the tops of your nail (not too much, if your nail starts to feel warm stop immedietly or you can make your nails weak) a quick little buff on each nail outta do it, then use your remover again to get any extra color off. (if you don't have a soft buffer you can find them at any local drug store or walmart, a 4 way shiner works great too)
you cant really do anything until it comes off by itself but in the future just put a base coat which is clear and then the nail polish (top coat if you want)

    Weird finger nails?......?

everytime I clip my finger nails (with a nail clipper) i get these bumps on the side of my fingers, with green goo, and it hurts like crazy? does anyone know why this happens???Weird finger nails?......?
it sounds like you are cutting your nails too short and you have an infection

I have a ingrown finger nail and i have to go see the doctor because its so infected whats the doctor gonna do?

please help!I have a ingrown finger nail and i have to go see the doctor because its so infected whats the doctor gonna do?
dont freak out they might give you some antibiotics orif its really bad they will send you to a specialist who will see how far the the infection is and make a small mark...give you a couple shots of novacane a cut that part of the nail out of the skin and remove some of the infected tissue....you will probably have to soak it twice a day in dish soap and hot water...it doesnt hurt that bad...you cant even tell that part of it is taken off....but it all depends on the condition of the finger...good luckI have a ingrown finger nail and i have to go see the doctor because its so infected whats the doctor gonna do?
All depends on the condition of the finger, the nail, the nail bed,.. and how much infection is present.

The minimal that will be done is a prescription of antibiotics or antifungals given.

However, I would suspect the doctor would relieve the inward growth of the nail, and then either he or his nurse clean, disinfect, and dress the finger.

At worst the nail will be taken off.

If the nail is to be taken off, the doctor will numb your finger completely.

    You'll be fine.

Dont you dislike when somone cuts there toenails around you that is worse than cutting finger nails!?

Flying toenails gross me out no matter whatDont you dislike when somone cuts there toenails around you that is worse than cutting finger nails!?
yes, also pretty rude, too.Dont you dislike when somone cuts there toenails around you that is worse than cutting finger nails!?
    it's gross,yes.
Especially if it's a stranger...and you're at the next table in a restaurant. I mean, how nasty can you be! There's nothing worse than a flying toenail landing in your soup! Or on your salad and you mistake it for a crouton! YUCK!
    Absolutely
I live in an apartment. The maintenance personnel has a key to each apartment. One day I came home from work. On my kitchen cabinet was clipped toenails. I can't prove which one did it because the landlord swore none of them was in my apartment that day.

But yes, I did dislike that (A LOT). I was so mad I would make that SOB eat those toenails if I knew who did it.

My family and I ate dinner a Jack in the Box. I found a finger nail in my food after taking about 4 bites.?

Do you think I have a case? I was asked about compensation when I reported it....what a reasonable amount? My family and I ate dinner a Jack in the Box. I found a finger nail in my food after taking about 4 bites.?
You don't have a case. You weren't injured. You didn't choke on it. You should have returned the item and requested a new one at no cost to you... or it would have been offered. If you choked, got an injury (esp. if the injury required treatment), then you'd have a case. It would cost you more than you'd get even if you won a case for pain and suffering. I'd suggest chalking it up as a disgusting experience, a story to tell.... and a lesson learned.... Don't eat at fast food establishments! My family and I ate dinner a Jack in the Box. I found a finger nail in my food after taking about 4 bites.?
yes u do babes have a case
Sure you do, my friend had chicken nuggets, and it had body parts of a chicken in several of the nuggets, he took it to a lawyer, didnt get much money out of it but, he did get something.
EEWWW yes, you better nail'd it too!!!! :-)
    don't eat fast food.
Not really. For you to have a case, you have to be able to prove you were harmed. Besides the yuck factor, where's the harm?

You are certainly entitled to some sort of compensation from the local Jack, like freebies or a gift certificate of some kind, but take this to court, and you'll lose, guaranteed.
its not theyer fault im shure you planted it
No proof - hope it was clean.
You have a case. I can't quote a figure as I do not know enough about these things. You could keep the nail and say you will send the story to the newspapers. That could make them think.
