If it is at the point of redness and swelling you are probably past the time for self treatment. Infection of the digits can quickly move to deeper tissue, including the bone. To try and remove or raise up the edge of the nail now is going to cause you very much pain. I would suggest an ER or walk in clinic to numb it up and take care of it. They may then give you antibiotics if necessary. How do i treat an ingrown finger nail?
A manicurist might be able to help, otherwise you'll need it surgically removed. A friend of mine gets yearly toe-nail surgeries due to a sports injury that damaged his big toenail. He gets ingrown nails and needs them removed by a surgeon often.
i used to get those, you are gonna have to get a pointed nail file and put it under your nail and pry it out. then stick a small piece of cotton under it so that it doesnt go back in there. oh yeah, and peroxide too!
Get a manicure unless it is infected than go to an urgent care.
take a pair of twezzers and yank it off
