About my finger nails????

How would I get them to grow longer and be thicker??

My nails seem really thin and never seem to grow! and when they actually do grow, which is hardly ever, they break off easily because they're so thin!!!

what would I eat? or what do I do? I want my nails to be healthier! My mom has thick nails and my dad doesn't... is it a genetic thing?About my finger nails????
Getting your nails to grow fast is really about taking care of them and keeping them healthy. Nails grow about 1/8 inch per month but what keeps nails from getting long is more about nail damage and poor nail care than about slow growth.

Shape your nails from the outside edge toward the middle, moving the emery board in one direction only rather than sawing it back and forth which damages the nail. Soaking nails in warm, soapy water before pushing cuticles back makes for less scraping on the nail bed (the pink part of the nail).

Condition nails with the same hand cream used on hands.Keeping nail polish on will keep nails from splitting, tearing or cracking. When doing a manicure, choose a nail shape that is wide and more square which is less apt to break, rather than a pointier oval shape. Using an oily nail polish remover will also help.

Eat a balanced diet to prevent vitamin deficiencies that create unhealthy nail conditions such as peeling, splitting or brittle nails. Don't fuss with your nails all the time as over filing can cause weakening and other nail problems.

Apply a strengthening clear polish to your nails regularly, even if you do not usually paint your nails.

Avoid submerging your hands in water if possible. For example, wear rubber gloves when doing dishes.

Calcium always helps. You can get calcium from a multi-vitamin or from a specific calcium supplement. The other thing I've found works REALLY well is gelatin. Gelatin is found in Jello, but in order to get the amount you need to grow long nails.

=)About my finger nails????
Sorry, but it's genetic.

The thickness of the nail plate is determined by the length of the matrix, which is determined by genetics.
take some vitamins and get Sally Hanson nail growth polish.

it strengthens too, and you can get it on colors, not just clear .!
milk will help a .little there are alos strenthinging nail polish that helps them from brakeing alos go to the drug store they have some erbal stuff that adds strength it worked for me
drinking lots of milk and eating lots of dairy should help your nails to grow and get a bit thicker and healthier. have a look in the beauty/nail section in whichever place you shop and find some nail polish remover that helps strengthen nails, i have one i think its either sally hansen or cutex. dont wear nail polish all the time cos its not good for your nails, and when you do use one like maybelline with iron which makes your nails stronger. sally hansen isnt too expensive and has alot of products for different needs so find the nail polish or nail polish remover that sounds the most like your nails.
