Is hair/finger nails alive?

No, they are not alive. They are mainly dead keratin cells. And though many people believe they grow after death, that is a myth.Is hair/finger nails alive?
Part of the nails and hair are alive and the other part is dead. Right at the base of the nails by the cuticle is called the matrix. That is where the nail is formed and once it grows out from there is is dead. The hairs grow out of the hair follicles and after t grows out of the follicle then that is dead.Is hair/finger nails alive?
Once the hair emerges from the scalp it is dead.

Your nails are dead once the nail leaves the matrix (or root) located under the cuticle and beneath the nail plate where you see the half moon.

No they are just dead cells but the interesting fact is that they seem to grow after death too. Just joking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We feel them growing 'cause the flesh in fingers and head shrink and they seem to grow for a few days until they start to decompose.
